Merry and Pippin

The music that Shore wrote for the Extended Edition scenes is, unsurprisingly, not as inspiring as what he wrote for the theatrical releases — they were, after all, afterthoughts. Most of it is either generic "movie music", or rehashes of existing thematic material.

He did, however, write this little Debussy-like ditty for Merry and Pippin's antics in two Extended Edition scenes. You don't hear it with scenes like the fireworks at Bilbo's party or the collision in the cornfield, because Shore wrote it after those scenes were scored.
